What is the enhanced security and why do we need to do it? Why do I need to register my computer?
|
- The enhanced security is "Multi-Factor Authentication", and it’s a federal requirement for any online site with confidential information, to ensure the ultimate security of your information.
- This Double-Layer of security consists of ~
- Something you know – (your password)
- Something you have (in this case–your computer)
- By registering your computer, you are giving our system a second piece of identifying information so we can be certain it’s truly you accessing your information, and not just someone else who’s stolen your User ID and password.
|
| How do I register my computer? |
- When you attempt to log-in on a computer for the first time, you will be automatically prompted to complete the steps to register the PC. You need to have access to one of your Access Code delivery methods to ensure a seamless process. (ie: your email or phone number(s) )
- This process downloads "cookies" on to your PC, which then identifies this PC with your User ID for our system. So the next time you log on, we’ll know it’s you!
|
| What are "Cookies"? |
- A "cookie" is a very small text file placed on your hard drive by a Web Page server. It is essentially your identification card, and cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. It is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you.
|
| Can I use/register more than one computer? |
- You can definitely use as many computers as you need to conduct your Internet Banking.
- The first time you log-on to each of the PC’s, you’ll be walked through the registering process.
|
| After a few uses, I was prompted to register the computer again? What happened? |
- If your Internet Browser files were deleted, the "Cookie" that is identifying your PC to our server may have also been deleted. That’s no problem, just go through the prompts to re-register that PC.
|
| I didn't receive my Access Code. |
- If you requested your Access Code to be delivered via email, there could be a couple of reasons why it has not arrived:
- Your Spam Filter may have blocked it thinking it was a "spam" email. Check your junk mailbox. To avoid this in the future, you can "whitelist" our email address ~ contact your Internet provider for instructions on how to do this.
- Another reason may be if your email address on our system is not current. Contact us to update your information.
|
| How do I add additional methods to receive my Access Codes (ie: my work email, my cell phone #, etc.) |
- When you are logged into your Internet Banking site – go to Preferences > Security to add or update your Delivery methods. You can have up to 3 delivery methods via email, and 3 via telephone.
- Contact your Personal Banker and we can add that information for you ASAP.
